Podcast FAQs
-
We are friends, in 4 different states who really love geek culture. You can find out more about each of us here.

We had done some hangouts on Google and Skype before, and realized that we had a lot to say (we spent 4 hours online talking about the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special). We figured if we're going to talk, why not hit record and put it out there for others to listen to. Thus the Five(ish) Fangirls were born!
-
Our name is two-fold: first, it's an homage to the Five(ish) Doctors Reboot, which in itself is an homage to the Five Doctors.
This is because Doctor Who is what originally brought all of us together, through (what is now our brother podcast) Traveling the Vortex.
Second, while we'd always like to have all of us present for every single show, we know that real life can get in the way, thus we are sometimes "ish" because not all of us are there. -
As we said, we're spread out so we rely on Skype/Zoom to do our shows. Skype/Zoom in itself works pretty well (most of the time), but there are also other factors like internet connection strength and what devices we're each using.
Not all of us are on a laptop, sometimes it's a tablet or even a cell phone! This creates the variances you hear in our voices. In a perfect world, we'd all have super strong internet, all the same computer and microphones....but for now, we're making it work.
We hope you enjoy the podcast regardless of any technical hiccups!

The short answer is, that we don’t know exactly quite yet. We’ve never done something like this before, so we’re learning as we go along.
The long answer is, that we have a lot of ideas including networking opportunities, discussions/presentations from experts, and brainstorming sessions.
BUT, we are also interested in hearing from you! If you have an idea, let us know. Feel free to email us or contact us on any of our social media platforms. -
We’ve strived to start with the organization with as few out-of-pocket expenses as possible. So right now our overhead includes things like this website. We’ll need to order things like table signs for events and business cards.
Beyond that, time will tell. As we talk to others about what we can do and accomplish as an organization we’ll better know where we need to focus our resources and funds.
Non-Profit FAQs
While we’re just starting out, your donations will help us cover our overhead costs. As we work with members and create programs, those funds will help us grow and serve our intended community even more!
